It is difficult to blog and share with you our plans for the future when there is such great uncertainty about the future within the NHS. We anticipate that the feedback from the consultation of the governments white paper on Equality and Excellence: Liberating the NHS will provide more information. This is due in early December.

We'll keep you updated with information as soon as we have it.

Recent successes...

West Midland Police Force recently had an unnanounced inspection by the Police Inspectorate, which also included health experts from the Care Quality Commission (CQC).  We'll have to wait for the formal report, but the informal feedback suggests the work on the provision of health based places of safety was praised and considered a example of good practice by the inspectorate.  There has been a lot of hard work put in to this by so many people across the region.  It is not perfect yet, but we are getting there.  For more information on our place of safety project do click on the link.

We also received feedback from the National Police Imporvement Agency about the development of their Mental Ill Health and Learning Disabilities Learning Programme, this will be a programme available to police officers across England & Wales.

We are pleased, because we might not know where the long term future of offender health lies, but we do know we are stil making differences now that will be here for the long term.
