Mental health nurses play a crucial role in supporting patients with mental health needs

Responsibilities often include;

  • Working with a multidisciplinary team to support patients at risk of suicide or self harm
  • Delivering brief interventions for patients with mild and moderate mental health problems
  • Working with GP's, psychotherapists and psychologists to deliver mental health therapies
  • Supporting patients through crisis
  • Working with primary care and substance misuse nurses effectively so that care is as holistic as possible
